Our Program

Whether by choice, or not, you are here because you are committing to an intervention program in order to change behaviours, and increase your opportunities to spend time with your children. You may also feel that your current parenting style or your behaviour is not achieving the results you want for yourself, your ex-partner or your children.

Parenting Reconnect offers a 16 week intervention program as a group/zoom session, or one on one individual sessions. This has been designed to help you reconnect with your children from an empowerment perspective. It emphasises respect, empathy and constructive communication while involving the mother's support to ensure a holistic approach to family reunification.

We also offer 'add on' services that compliment our program, which can support the changes you are making in order to improve your chances of reconnection.

16 Weeks Program

If you have been court-ordered to attend a behavioural change program, or your lawyer has suggested you do so, Parenting Reconnect offers a 16 week intervention program. This has been designed to help you choose safer behaviours without using anger or violence utilising an empowerment perspective. It emphasises respect, empathy and constructive communication while involving the mother's support if she is willing, to ensure a holistic approach to reunification with your children.

Our focus is on safety for the entire family unit and helping you achieve a life-changing shift from old behaviours that have proved to be destructive.

This program is offered via weekly zoom sessions so it can be accessed by all.

The Program - Individual Sessions

Violence in intimate relationships tends to continue, and even small changes in behaviour can have a significant positive impact.

Individual sessions use approaches aimed to address the thoughts and beliefs that justify violent behaviour while incorporating problem-solving and communication skills, anger management techniques, and impulse control strategies. This involves examining the origins and persistence of beliefs that legitimize violence, including the impact of critical developmental experiences like trauma.

You will be guided in acquiring new skills to manage interpersonal conflict nonviolently, with a focus on addressing issues related to anger, mental health, and substance abuse. Couple or relationship counselling may also be offered, but it is crucial to ensure that responsibility for the issues is appropriately assigned to the offender rather than the victims of domestic violence.

Add On Support

We offer 'add-on' specialised services that will clarify and reinforce the information you have learnt in the 16 week program.

You may benefit from one or more of these services and they can be offered as a one-on-one session, either face to face or via zoom, for your convenience.

We also have professional partners who specialise in mental health matters such as depression and anxiety, addiction, DFV specialists, ADHD and more.

We can link you with numerous support services to ensure your new learnt skills and beliefs are on-going for the long term.

On-Going Support

Participate in the programs post participation group which will provide an opportunity for you to continue your journey of change and reinforce behaviour change and accountability as previously explored in the program.

You will leave the program with a 'support network' already in place as well as your own personalised support 'team' (friends & family) ready to step up when you reach for help.

Ultimately, you are always responsible for the choices you make. Having a 'support team' will help you honour the commitment you have made throughout this program to make better choices, for yourself and your children.
